Kate Widdows is a graphic designer and neon sign maker. Kate began creating digital neon in animated GIF form, which is an image that's been encoded using the graphics interchange format where it has multiple frames encoded into a single image file and a web browser will play those images back in animated sequence. After recognizing the parallels, Kate linked up with the directors of the Neon Speaks Festival & Symposium in San Francisco and became co-producer and brand designer. Further changing directions, she now organizes popular neon walking tours of Portland and even created a keepsake map of Portland’s best neon.
