Painting Photo-Realistic Neon Signs and Travel with Kellie Talbot

For Kellie, a photo-realism painter, neon allowed her to focus on American culture, typography, industry and architecture. She talks with Max about the appeal of letters in daylight, capturing the spirit of oil painting, and depicting the rust and years of decay in a positive light. She also touches on traveling and new ways to discover more forgotten neon and all the fascinating moments they introduce, giving her the ability to paint elaborate shadows, tubular angles and tangled steel. Kellie also talks about how she and her husband, cat and duck, who live primarily in Seattle - roam the country periodically in a portable studio on wheels photographing artifacts of the past.
